Heritage Register

To qualify for entry in the Local Heritage Register a place/item must be assessed as meeting one or more of the following criteria:

1. the place/item is important in demonstrating the evolution or pattern of Waratah- Wynyard’s history
2. the place/item demonstrates rare, uncommon, or endangered aspects of Waratah- Wynyard’s cultural heritage
3. the place/item has potential to yield information that will contribute to the knowledge and understanding of Waratah-Wynyard’s history
4. the place/item is important in demonstrating the principal characteristics of a particular class or classes of cultural places
5. the place/item is important because of its aesthetic significance
6. the place/item is important in demonstrating a high degree of creative or technical achievement at a particular period
7. the place/item has a strong or special association with a particular community or cultural group for social, cultural, or spiritual reasons
8. the place/item has a special association with the life or work of a particular person, group, or organisation of importance in Waratah-Wynyard’s history.

Anyone can propose a place/item place to be considered for entry in the Waratah-Wynyard Local Heritage Register by submitting an application.

The application requires a sound and reasoned argument based on the relevant local cultural heritage criteria to be provided and asks for documentary evidence about why the place is of cultural heritage significance to Waratah-Wynyard to be submitted in support of the application.
