Somerset Community Conversation Event
Join Senior Council Staff, Project Managers & Councillors at Somerset Primary School on June 24th at 5:30pm to discuss the draft Somerset Sports Precinct Master Plan.
The Somerset Sporting Precinct (SoSP) Master Plan addresses the need for adequate and upgraded sports facilities in Somerset, driven by significant residential growth. The plan aims to provide diverse recreational opportunities, enhancing physical and social activity participation, liveability, and the health and wellbeing of residents.
Key objectives include increasing public facility utilisation through consolidation and improved accessibility, fostering partnerships between the council, community, and other organizations, and integrating school and community facilities for lifelong health and wellbeing activities. The plan proposes significant investments, such as improved amenities at Langley Park and relocating the Somerset Indoor Recreation Centre to the school site, which will include new indoor and outdoor sports facilities. Seventeen action items are planned for delivery over eight years to achieve these goals.
