Community Grants

Community Activation Grants Program

Waratah-Wynyard Council have committed funding for a Community Activation Grants program that supports community members and their initiatives to:

  • Encourage and enhance social and cultural wellbeing, 
  • Develop and enhance recreation activities,
  • Foster economic development and education pursuits. 

Grants of up to $2000 are available and will be offered to successful applicants to assist them with their community projects and activities.

Important Dates:

Two rounds of grants area available each financial year.

Round 1:  Applications Open 1 July, Applications Close 26 August,
Applications Assessed September, Council Decision Announced, October.

Round 2:  Applications Open 1 November,

Applications Close 31 December,

Applications Assessed January, Council Decision Announced, February.

Who is eligible? 

Any Sporting club or community group provided they have not already applied for a community activation grant in the past financial year (only one grant per year permitted).

The project needs to clearly support community initiatives that encourage and enhance social and cultural wellbeing or foster economic development and/ or education pursuits.

Applicants must be not for profit community organisations or associations that are legally constituted as an incorporated body or under the auspice of one. Applicants must be based and operate within the Waratah-Wynyard Local Government Area (LGA) and the proposed activity must be undertaken in the Waratah-Wynyard LGA and benefit residents of Waratah-Wynyard.

Funds cannot be used for regular operational expenses, such as rent, power bills and insurance.
