Waratah-Wynyard Council prepares to Go Nuts
Waratah-Wynyard Council will host an After Party for the inaugural Gone Nuts Tasmania’s 101 Adventure Run this Saturday 25 February.
Waratah-Wynyard Council is proud to be supporting the inaugural Gone Nuts Tasmania’s 101 Adventure Run this Saturday 25 February.
In celebration of the event, Council will be hosting the Gone Nuts After Party in Gutteridge Gardens from 10am to 9pm on the day.
The event is free for participants and for the wider community.
The After Party will feature local food, refreshments and free entertainment for the kids, including face painting, zorb balls and a giant slide.
There will also be live music all day, with popular Launceston band Agent 99 entertaining the crowd from 7pm to 9m.
Kids can also enter the Mixed Nuts Kids Race on Friday evening at 6pm in the Gutteridge Gardens. Entry is free and registrations can be completed on the day.
The Gone Nuts runners will embark on a 101km journey from The Nut in Stanley from 6am, with the 50km race starting in Rocky Cape at the same time.
Participants in the 25km run start in Boat Harbour at 8.30am and are expected to be the first to arrive in Gutteridge Gardens from around 10.30am.
“This event has already exceeded our expectations, with over 600 runners taking part,” Waratah-Wynyard Council Tourism Development Coordinator Rachael Hogge said.
“About 350 of them are travelling from interstate and even overseas, so this is a good chance to show our hospitality and join in the celebrations.
“We want to showcase everything that is beautiful about this region and that includes our community spirit.”
